Sculpture closely based on the structure of
painting. A flat construction of canvas and
stretchers make up a being between
bird and human. Title
refers the myth of the phoenix that is reborn
from its own ashes
every 400 years. This
piece, however, depicts the
descending phoenix, just in advance of its self-destruction.
